CROWNED OUTER RACE TO REDUCE EFFECTS OF EDGE LOADING

Edge loading of full complement needle bearings causes skewing and end thrusting which contribute to premature bearing failure. In those installations where it is impractical or too costly to provide for perfect alignment, crowned bearing O.D.'s provide compensation for misalignment between the cam follower and the surface of a slanted track or cam. The radius also eliminates skidding and thrusting typical when bearing is in contact with a flat, circular cam. Bearing life will be increased in those problem applications where standard flat bearing surfaces have proven troublesome.

All standard cam followers and cam yoke rollers are available with crowned outer races. Add suffix C to standard designations. Example: A 3/4" sealed cam yoke roller which is part number YR-3/4-X becomes YR-3/4-XC when specified with crown.
